THE WI INSPIRING WOMEN

Happy New Year. Once again we have a busy year ahead of us with our programme planners having worked hard in organising a varied range of topics and speakers for our monthly meeting and likewise the craft sub-committee setting us some new and interesting activities. I am sure there are items of interest for everyone to take part in. This year we have created a very informative 2019 Programme leaflet that has each meetings speaker or activity and the craft evening topic, along with important dates. It is a great size to carry about so you will always know what’s on. Our other sub-groups will give you updates throughout the year of what is occurring and the many opportunities to share time with your fellow members for a chat and a bite to eat. Plus we will have regular updates from our trip advisor, who does a sterling job of finding us places to go. The Womens Institutes aim is to inspire women through educational opportunities, new skills and campaigns on issues that matter to them and their communities.
I feel that Failsworth and Beyond WI are always mindful of this and does its utmost to follow this wherever possible. I am now in my 2nd year as President and I have seen some great work carried out by the committee. Thank you all, I know you will continue to strive to give your best. I have also been grateful for the many contributions and donations we have received from members on our relentless task of fundraising. This is a necessity and thanks to all those who have given their support as this enables us to reach our financial targets to run our WI to a good standard and provides us with opportunities to help the local community. A warm welcome also to any new members, thank you for joining us. As well as attending the monthly meetings you are invited to attend and be involved in our many groups and events. I hope you enjoy your first year with us and beyond. I would like to finish by asking you to take a minute to think about what we have achieved in the past and what should we be doing in the future. It is every members WI so if you have any ideas or suggestions for moving forward, come and talk to us or put a suggestion in the box.
