VISIT TO OUR TWINNED WI IN KENNINGTON,KENT, SEPTEMBER 2011
In September 2011 an invitation was extended to visit our "twinned" Womens Institute Group in Kennington, Kent. Some 5 members went and stayed in a Kennington member's house, which is normally used as a holiday let, and were entertained by the ladies of Kennington WI who own their own Meeting Place ( see picture on the left ).
Our members put together a hamper containing items from Lancashire such as Uncle Joe's Mint Balls, Lancashire cheese, Bury Black Pudding etc . A raffle was organised one evening, when each winner picked one item from the hamper in turn. On the last evening the ladies from FAB WI and the ladies from Kennington WI all enjoyed a fish and chip supper. The ladies of Kennington WI could not have been more friendly and welcoming. Hopefully in 2012 they will visit us.
